Katie Horner's Care Philosophy

Katie believes the best care starts with listening—really listening. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, she takes time to understand not just your symptoms, but your lifestyle, concerns, and goals. She doesn’t rush through appointments or speak in medical jargon. Instead, she explains things clearly, so you always know what’s going on and why it matters.

Prevention is at the heart of Katie’s approach. She works with patients to stay ahead of illness through regular checkups, health screenings, and long-term planning. For those managing chronic conditions, she takes a steady, supportive approach—tracking progress over time and making adjustments that fit each person’s daily life. She values teamwork with her patients and believes in empowering them through education.

Katie is also passionate about the role hormones play in overall health. As a BioTE® certified provider, she offers hormone therapy tailored to both women and men experiencing life-stage transitions. Whether helping someone navigate perimenopause or optimize energy levels, her goal is to make people feel more like themselves again—physically and emotionally.

Research interests

Katie has translated her clinical insights into scholarly inquiry—most notably authoring a peer-reviewed literature review titled “Testosterone: The Forgotten Female Hormone” in the Lynchburg Journal of Medical Science (March 2025), where she evaluated over 50 studies on bioidentical testosterone in peri‑ and early post‑menopausal women, underlining both clinical gaps and the need for more definitive trials. Her ongoing interests center on the role of tailored hormone therapies in supporting women’s energy, libido, bone health, and cardiovascular prevention without unnecessary risk. Her ongoing interests center on tailoring hormone therapies to individual needs based on shared decision-making to optimize energy, libido, bone and muscle health, brain function, and cardiovascular prevention.
